Who We Are
Our Founder
Kay Woods, after working with the Peace Corps for three years, was asked to assemble a group from many diversified occupations to create a project that would benefit local citizens in need as her final project. It was in 1983 that Ms. Kay brought together the first group of concerned citizens to establish The Lord Is My Help as a certified 501(c)(3) non-profit. When the organization began they were serving approximately 400 meals per month. Now, in 2020, the organization is serving over 5,200 meals each and every month.
Sadly, Ms. Kay passed away on January 27, 2020. We were honored and blessed to have her lead and teach us for over 36 years.
